An accomplished financial leader, Sonya believes that business success needn’t come at the expense of the environment or society – this can be achieved partly through better reporting, connecting financial and sustainability outcomes so teams can better understand their impact and connectivity.
As a leader in three professions – financial management, auditing and assurance, and sustainability strategy – Sonya founded Eco Risk & Consulting to provide innovative advice and guidance to organisational leaders who want to make a difference.
Blending her assurance, financial reporting, and sustainability-related experience, Sonya provides impact reporting for not-for-profit social-environmental impact organisations and corporates.
Known for simplifying complex situations, Sonya helps clients clarify and execute effective reporting strategies with key stakeholders. She is known for her generosity in sharing in-depth knowledge of reporting frameworks, ultimately assisting companies adapt to the constantly evolving landscape.
Sonya has led an accomplished and well-respected career. She was the Lead Inspector for the Clean Energy Regulator (CER) as part of the implementation of the climate-change program and transition to a low-carbon economy where she gained insight and expertise across the carbon credit market. She was appointed Independent Quality Reviewer for various Auditor-General’s Departments across Australia and Chartered Accountants ANZ providing both corporate and impact reporting, audit and assurance services, and training and development.
Sonya supports CFOs, finance leaders and their teams to understand the risks and opportunities for best practice reporting. Through her advisory services and educational workshops, she empowers leaders to excel. A sought-after speaker, Sonya has presented at numerous conferences and webinars, sharing her insights on the latest developments in reporting-related matters.
In addition, Sonya continues to provide training and development to respected professional services firms in financial reporting, auditing, and assurance.
